How the VowLedger Research Desk works
VowLedger publishes planning tools and explanatory research for couples comparing wedding proposals. This page documents what we count as evidence, how we label uncertainty and how corrections are handled.
Who creates and reviews the guides
Guides are written and maintained by the VowLedger Research Desk, the editorial function of VowLedger. The desk reviews public pricing sources, proposal structures and the site’s calculation rules. It is not a law firm, tax adviser, wedding venue or booking agency. No unverified professional credential is claimed.
Four evidence labels
- Source fact: a statement visible in a named public source, with its publication or check date recorded.
- Calculated value: arithmetic produced from visible inputs and a stated formula.
- Modeled estimate: a planning range derived from a benchmark and disclosed assumptions.
- Unknown: a price, inclusion or rule that the available document does not establish.
An unknown is never silently converted to zero. A benchmark difference is a question to investigate, not a finding that a vendor is unfair or overpriced.
Source and update standards
Numeric benchmarks identify their source, underlying data year and the date VowLedger checked the source. Named-venue prices keep the original pricing basis—such as rental only or a package estimate—so unlike prices are not blended into one misleading average.
Pages receive a new “updated” date only after a meaningful change to the guidance, data, calculation or source set. Sitemap modification dates follow the same rule.
Quote scanner review standard
OCR and pattern matching can miss or misread text, especially in scans, photographs and complex tables. The scanner therefore links detected amounts to source text and asks the user to review unclear items. A completed review means the user checked the displayed fields; it does not guarantee that a document disclosed every fee or that every clause was detected.
Anonymous quote research
VowLedger is building a voluntary research set of high-level quote observations. Couples can share a city or state, vendor category, guest count, event timing, quoted amount, expected total, important inclusions and disclosed fees without sending a contract or identifying information.
Submitting a research lead does not automatically publish it. VowLedger will use a submission in aggregate research only when the contributor explicitly agrees to anonymized research use. Remove names, email addresses, signatures, account numbers and payment details before submitting anything.
Corrections and independence
Anyone may report an outdated source, calculation problem or misleading explanation. VowLedger checks corrections against the original source before changing published data. Vendors cannot pay to change a benchmark, improve a directory rank or suppress a correction.
